My wife – Alamelu “Jothy” Iyer – and I live in sunny Laguna Niguel (Orange County), Southern California. We moved from Chicago to Orange County in July 2008 and fell in love with the beaches rightaway. We find ourselves indulging in a lot more outdoor activities than when we were in Chicago. I dont know if the weather or the mid-life crisis…but ever since we moved to California in 2008, I have become a distance-running addict and set for myself a goal of running a marathon or a half-marathon in every continent (including Antarctica) before end of 2013.
We have two boys – Sravisht “Chevy” Iyer, and Visraant “Visu” Iyer. The elder one is an M.D. student at Harvard Medical School, Boston (class of 2012), and the younger one is an undergraduate sophomore in Northwestern University, Evanston (Chicago), Illinois (class of 2011). Sravisht completed his undergraduate in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore in 2007.
I am a graduate (M.S.) in Computer Science from Depaul University, Chicago, and my wife has a post-graduate degree in Economics from University of Madras, India.
My career profile includes management roles in Bank of Baroda, Mahindra-British Telecom, IBM Global Services, Cap Gemini, Accenture, and Wachovia Securities. I am currently in a senior IT management role in a large investment management company in Irvine, California. My wife is an employee of Chase (one of the “too big to fail” banks) in the OC area.
