Ran the Chicago Marathon 2011. This was my second Chicago Marathon. Any avid or aspiring marathoner should run this race. Great crowd support, very well-organized, and plenty of aid stations. Flat course – and to top it all – what a great weather this year. I learned that a North Carolina fire fighter lost his…
Dark and early start at 6 am – with 12000 other runners – including Drew Carey. Race started from inside the Disneyland Theme Park, and ran through all the park attractions, with Disney characters high-fiving the runners. The race then went through a few boring Anaheim streets, before entering Angel Stadium. Rounding the bases inside…
Very well organized race. All runners - nearly 7000 of them – were transported to Cabrillo National Monument by 6.30 am for the 7 am start. Very scenic course, despite the fact that the course runs along many city streets. Great San Diego weather – perfect for running. I didnt realize I was chafing pretty…
Ran Marathon # 8 for the year. Carlsbad, Tokyo, LA, London, OC, San Diego, Gold Coast (Australia), and now San Francisco. 4 more to go to reach the goal of 12 full marathons for the year (plus 6 half-marathons). Berlin, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Las Vegas remain. San Francisco is not exactly a course for…
As part of my 7-continent goal, I ran the Gold Coast Marathon in Australia on July 3rd. Gold Coast felt like I was in Orange County, California. Great weather, nice beaches, and multi-million dollar riverfront homes. As far as the race was concerned, wasnt exactly a world-class event as the organizers might have hoped it…
Ran my first trail run today. This was a training run for July 9th race. The run was in the mountains of Santa Ana – and had a net 5000 ft elevation with 9.3 miles uphill and 9.3 miles down. Awesome run, and I did well with no soreness nor cramps after the finish. Brooks…
Ran the full marathon in San Diego on Sunday, June 5th. Well organized race with a lot of volunteer support, local bands, and cheer leaders. Not a world class course, but not boring either. Not a tough course either, with a few hills and mostly flat. Made PR. Getting closer and closer to qualify for…
Neighborhood race going through a boring course with hills and bike trails. Very little crowd support. Made PR. I wish Boston took half-marathon time for qualifying. I’d have qualified comfortably. Oh, well. Rock n Roll Marathon in San Diego up next.
Our Son, Sravisht “Chevy” Iyer, graduated Cum Laude from Harvard Medical School on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Weather was perfect for the outdoor ceremony. Harvard tradition and formality were evident in every second of the occasion. Highly accomplished bunch of graduates.
