Picked Alabama to count one other state down. The city of Birmingham looked like it was hit with day-time curfew. Empty streets, run-down buildings, boring downtown – Couldnt find anything that would validate my decision to run in Alabama. The race morning was very cold – colder than Chicago lakefront on a February morning. Very…
Ran in sub-zero weather for the first time – with gusty wind and snow on the ground. It was, however, a fun race. The course was all along the Chicago Lake Front and started at 10 am. I ran with my son Visraant Iyer, and beat him by 9 minutes. Met the target of sub-2hour…
First Marathon for this year. Great race to run. The entire course runs through all Disney Theme Parks – Starts at Epcot, and runs through Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios before finishing at Epcot. Volunteer age bracket was conspicuously in the 70s and 80s – but they were cheering like crazy. Race was…
First night-time Marathon. The strip was shutdown for a few hours in the evening / night for the 44000 runners – 39000 of them running the half. Crowd support was very sparse. The organizers should rethink the strategy of merging the marathoners with the half-marathoners in the middle. That certainly slowed down a number of…
Ran Philadelphia Marathon under perfect running weather. Great course – each of the 26.2 miles ran thru scenic spots of Philly. Started and finished near the flight of stairs made famous by Rocky. One more to go for the year to make it 12 marathons in 2011.
Ran Marathon # 10 for the year. Cold start to the race, but sunny with light breeze throughout. Perfect for running. I love this race. Great organization, very enthusiastic crowd along the way. Two more races to go this year. Philadelphia and Las Vegas.
Ran the Chicago Marathon 2011. This was my second Chicago Marathon. Any avid or aspiring marathoner should run this race. Great crowd support, very well-organized, and plenty of aid stations. Flat course – and to top it all – what a great weather this year. I learned that a North Carolina fire fighter lost his…
Dark and early start at 6 am – with 12000 other runners – including Drew Carey. Race started from inside the Disneyland Theme Park, and ran through all the park attractions, with Disney characters high-fiving the runners. The race then went through a few boring Anaheim streets, before entering Angel Stadium. Rounding the bases inside…
Very well organized race. All runners - nearly 7000 of them – were transported to Cabrillo National Monument by 6.30 am for the 7 am start. Very scenic course, despite the fact that the course runs along many city streets. Great San Diego weather – perfect for running. I didnt realize I was chafing pretty…
