

- K - To denote Kilobyte.
(1024 bytes). It is so widely used that if you ask
someone how much is his (or her) pay, the response will
be so-and-so-K. Here, K means 1000.
- kbps - (Kilo Bits Per
Second) This has replaced the old term 'baud' to measure
data transmission speed.
- kermit - One of the
many protocols. A protocol used for transferring files
over a dial-up connection that is commonly used on BBS
systems.
- key -In a database, a
field in each record (put there for the sole purpose, if
need be) that is guaranteed to be unique in every record,
and is used for systematic searching.
