invented by Sun Microsytems enabling dynamic objects
called "applets" to be transmitted through HTTP
server-client links. Animated pictures are an example. Hot
Java is seperate client software designed
specifically to display Java applets.
- Java-enabled
browser - A browser that can recognise Java
applets and display them. Netscape Navigator 3.0 is an
example.
- Javascript - A
scripting language designed by Netscape. A crude
definiton will be : this is poor man's Java.
- JPEG -(Joint
Photographic Experts Group) A modern image file format
allowing for a choice of three levels of file
compression, with progressive trade-off of image quality.
JPEGs are ideal for photographic art, as opposed to line
art that compresses better in .GIF format.
