leased line connection capable of carrying data at
1,544,000 bits-per-second. At maximum theoretical
capacity, a T-1 line could move a megabyte in less than
10 seconds.
- T3 - A
leased line connection capable of carrying data at
44,736,000 bits-per-second.
- tag -Name
given to the code strings embedded in HTML documets, such
as <H1>, that control the formatting display of
documents on the Web.
- TCP/IP -(Transmission
Control Protocol / Internet Protocol) Shorthand for the
most common packet-switching protocols used on the
Internet.

- Telnet -A
software system that establishes connection between two
computers for the purpose of character-based data
exchange. Unlike FTP, Telnet is interactive, and is
commonly used, makes a desktop computer behave as though
it was the worksman of a much larger computer.

- A software that gives special capabilities to
a terminal so that it 'acts' as the terminal of another
operating system. Most communications programs offer a
choice of "emulations" that let you mimic the
keyboard that would normally be attached directly to the
host-system computer.
- terminal server
- A special purpose computer that has places to
plug in many modems on one side, and a connection to a
LAN or host machine on the other side. Thus the terminal
server does the work of answering the calls and passes
the connections on to the appropriate node. Most terminal
servers can provide PPP or SLIP services if connected to
the Internet.
- thread - In
a USENET newsgroup, a chain of postings on a single
subject.
- thumbnail
- A miniature version of a large image.
- TIFF -(Tagged
Image File Format) A standard format for storing
bitmapped image files. A .TIFF file is uncompressed (and
therefore generally large) and can contain many images.
- tilde ( ~ )
- A character that is used as a prefix to
user-names. This character is on the left-most position
(below Esc) on a standard IBM keyboard.

- toolbar -Area
of a computer application screen used in conjunction with
a mouse pointer to perform various functions by clicking.
The active areas of a toolbar are usually drawn to look
like pushbuttons, and have different "in" and
"out" renderings.
- transparent GIF
- Another type of GIF where a particular color
is made transparent. This enables the images to 'blend'
with the background color of the page.

- Killer virus masquerading as a piece of
software.
