Running for Charities

I am excited to be participating in the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) this year on October 29th 2011. I am running with Team Azalea Charities as part of their ‘2011 Run for Wounded Warriors’ campaign to raise money and awareness for U.S. service personnel wounded from service in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Azalea Charities, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to aid wounded service personnel by providing comfort items and other special assistance to soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines sick, injured or wounded from service in Iraq and Afghanistan. The charity is 100% run by volunteers and covers its operating expenses by generous contributions from board members. Depending on needs specifically identified by wounded servicemen and their families, the charity purchases items distributed each week at military medical centers, Veteran Administration medical centers and Fisher House rehabilitation facilities across the globe. Many of the servicemen and women are grievously wounded and require long hospitalization and rehabilitation, so the purpose of the program is to lift their spirits and enhance their morale by providing various types of assistance unable to be met by other institutions or the government.

If you decide to sponsor me as part of Team Azalea Charities ‘Run for Wounded Warriors’, please visit this site . Thank you.

For more information about the charity, please go to their web sites at www.azaleacharities.org. If you’d like more info about our team, or know someone who may like to join the team as a fundraiser in conjunction with any event they’re participating in this year, look for the ‘ Run for Wounded Warriors’ logo with link to details about Team Azalea Charities at the Azalea Charities link above.

Thank you in advance for making a donation to help our wounded personnel and their families making challenging adjustments after returning from Iraq and Afghanistan to their respective home towns across the country. We will make you proud as Team Azalea Charities runs the 2011 Marine Corps Marathon in their honor.
