


- UNIX -The
operating system of choice for computers dedicated to the
Internet. UNIX is inherently suited to network
operations.
- upload -
To transfer a file to another server / location using FTP
or other similar protocol.
- URL -(Universal
Resource Locator) An address that completely defines a
resource of the World Wide Web. A URL has four elements:
- The service-HTTP or FTP or a few others
- The host-The computer that handles the resource
- The port number (often not necessary because it
defaults according to the service requested).
- The path and filename of the resource
- Format of a URL service ://host:port/path
- Usenet -A
worldwide network exchanging news bulletins grouped under
subject categories called "newsgroups". Most
newsgroups are open, and anyone may contribute.Netscape
has built its own newsreader interacting with Usenet.

- The name assigned to you on a computer system.
This may be different from your actual name. You use your
user-id to logon.
